directory with triple-dashes causes other applications to fail

Bug Description

Our PQM implementation builds packages in directory: /home/pqm/.../bzr+ssh/---trunk

The directory ---trunk causes built packages to fail in other ways (in our case, CouchDB). It seems any part of the directory path that starts with 2 or more dashes causes the same problems.

Is it possible to make PQM use a more 'standard' directory name?

Its certainly possible to change the algorithm pqm uses. However your other app is really the problem. Patches appreciated.
