I tried to install dante-server and the installation crashed. What further information could I have?

The Debian Maintainer has released a new version to mentors.debian.net which I think may fix the issue.

Ubuntu does not differ from Debian on this account. Debian BTS has no corresponding ticket, though.

I believe the sane thing to do would be to bind internal and external to localhost as a sane default that the admin can then configure.
