Need the way to tell bzr that file is binary

We have some projects written in\with Gupta. (centura). Problem, that sources in semi-binary format. Simple binary format, but without non printable characters. After merging Gupta can't open sources… bzr has made merge two apt files - in Gupta it did not opens any more...

Is it possible to force bazaar process such files (*.apt) like binary? And exclude from any merging etc.
Or process normally, but exclude from any merging...

The better way, imho, is possibility use file masks for binaries. like
[binary]
*.apt
*.pdf
etc.
