Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-plasma

The panel does not extend across the full width of the screen by default, as you can see in the attached screenshot. The same issue was evident on the livecd I used for installation. I'm pretty sure the panel is supposed to occupy the full width of the screen, since that's the way it always looks in Jaunty screenshots. Resizing the panel manually is easy enough, but it ought to be the proper width by default. I wonder if this has something to do with my widescreen monitor -- my display resolution is 1440x900.

The attached screenshot was taken shortly after installation from the March 3, 2009 Kubuntu daily-live. That equates to kdebase-plasma 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu3. I noticed the same issue of panel width in Jaunty Alpha 3 and Alpha 4, too.
