Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-rt

Suffering from bug #335297 I tried to install linux-image-rt as it appears to be 2.6.26-3 and not 2.6.28-8 or something.

Expected: boots up - examine ps/2 and usb mouse problem further

What happened: When booting, it boots till it tries to init the root-fs. Which is on a lvm2-ext3 over a raid5. Hello busybox.

This is not a bug in the linux-meta package, moving to the linux-ports package.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux-ports (Ubuntu)

It should also be notes that the ABI number (-3/-8) for the linux and linux-ports kernel are not in the same numbering scheme so there is no guarentee that the kernel would have been older. You can get older kernels from launchpad however if that is your need. Links to the binaries can be found from the various versions listed at the URL below:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that could be fixed in the Beta release of Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it! Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing similar bug with linux-rt 2.6.31-9: Root FS is on plain LVM, booting fails with reporting

udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured
udevadm settle is not permitted while udev is uncofigured
svgalib: Cannot open /dev/mem

and finally

ALERT! /dev/mapper/gg-root does not exist.

Issue is not present with linux-generic-2.6.31-14.

I take it back - kernel booted after running dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.31-9-rt. So that was probably an upgrade issue.

What happens here is that when you install linux...rt it doesn't run the dpkg-reconfigure for the depmod to be updated.

When you boot and try to use the image it will fail because depmod didn't run

Hi,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity
in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you
try with the latest development release of Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx)? ISO CD
images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/

Thanks!
