"new message notification" is buggy

I am using Gaim on dapper with Guifications and Message Notification enabled.

When someone sends me a message, the gaim icon in notification area starts flickering. Meanwhile, the Guification shows that a new message is received also. Clicking on the Guification opens a chat window, in which the message which is just received is not yet shown. After clicking on the flickering gaim icon, the message _does_ show, but the icon does not stop flickering.

Are Guifications some sort gaim plugin? Can you describe what they do and what extra package you need to install to see them?

It is a plugin. It shows a small msn-messenger-like popup when someone sends a message etc.

I installed them using the package `gaim-guifications' from universe.

My inclination is that this is a problem of two different plugins interacting. I also suspect that the situation is at least different in 2.0.0, which we should be releasing a 3rd beta of later this week.

grim tells me that this is now fixed in guifications for its next release.

Would the last comment make this bug a duplicate of #38276, which in turn should be simply changed into an upgrade request?
