Are you using VirtualBox when seeing this crash? If so, what version? Perhaps this is just an instance of #301028

Thanks for reporting this issue. VirtualBox provides its own X driver, and this seems to be an issue with that. Reassigning

What host/guest OS are you running?
What version of VirtualBox/VirtualBox Guest Additions are you using?
When does the X sever crash (only once/sporadical/frequently/at a specific point)?
Please also attach the VirtualBox log file (Main Window: Machine -> Show Log).
