Bug Description

installed from Alpha 4 UNR daily USB image. Machine is an ASUS eee PC 900, 16 & 4 GiB SSDs.

In the main UNR interface, the "Home" screen, if you will, mouse cursor movement is very jerky, and more than a little annoying. I don't have this when any other application is in the foreground.

It looks like it might be related to the mouseover stuff that makes the icon titles/tabs/locations highlight when the cursor first passes over them. It does not seem to be as frequent once an object has been passed over once.

If the highlighting behavior is toggleable, it's not readily apparent where that setting would be.

Thanks for reporting this bug. It sounds like the drivers aren't providing hardware acceleration for OpenGL. I know that recently, Jaunty has had a few issues with the intel drivers and their performance, so that may be the reason.

Just to check, could you please run `glxgears` and report back with the average framerate you get after running for about 20 seconds.

Yeah, that's pretty slow. I've found the latest xorg and intel drivers fair much better, could please update for system and try again. Also, do you have UXA running, or is it a stock xorg.conf?

This is a stock xorg.conf. I'm updating jaunty now to see if I can get
the updates you mention.

Same behavior with alpha 6. I've seen no improvement with the newer intel drivers.

It seems to be specific to the netbook-launcher , if you enable the "standard" desktop the mouse cursor acts normal . running jaunty alpha6 netbookremix on eee 701 .

Same here, eeepc 701. The cursor is jittery only on the launcher, not on top of applications. I downloaded the daily image, march 25.

This seems to be an issue with the intel drivers (and effects my eeePC too). The kernels at https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/349314 fixed it for me, please try them out.
