Fails to start: There is another checkbox running. Please close it first.

Binary package hint: checkbox

checkbox refuses to run at all on my system, reporting "There is another checkbox running. Please close it first." However, there is no other checkbox process running.

I assume this is due to a stale lock, and checkbox should clean it up in this case.

Matt, could you try with the version in PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~checkbox-dev/+archive/ppa or the shortly available 0.7 version? I don't have this failure on my system (64bit, 9.04)

If I recall correctly, you should be able to reproduce this problem with:

sudo touch /var/lib/checkbox/lock

This bug has been fixed in Karmic. To reproduce the problem, I have touched ~/.cache/checkbox/lock and then tried running checkbox-gtk. The application now behaves properly and cleans up after itself if a lock is found without another instance of the application running.
