Bug Description

Binary package hint: kvm

I have an Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 system, running several guest OS's under kvm and using virt-manager with no difficulty. Unfortunately, I cannot install the Ubuntu 7.10 desktop amd64, i386, or alternate-amd64 systems on it. Any attempt to start kvm for it, either using virt-manager or manually, causes the VNC connection to pop up, shows the BIOS detecting the hardware, then crashes immediately while attempting to read from the CD.

Relevant software includes:
kvm 1:72+dfsg-1ubuntu6
virt-manager 0.5.4-2ubuntu1
ubuntu-7.10-desktop-amd64.iso

And my /etc/libvirt/guest.xml is attached.

Ubuntu 7.10 installs gracefully under VMware, and under Xen on CentOS 5. It's only on Ubuntu 8.10 with the default KVM virtualization manager that I continue to have an issue.

Please try the instructions at:

You should be able to solve your issue using that sed command on the CD.
