I have the same problem on 9.04 amd64

Same here.

1. create screenshot of entire screen (including mouse pointer)
2. select a region in screenshot
3. Right click > Edit > Copy
4. Right click > Paste as > New image
5. Clicked on File on new image, window grayed out and crashed

The same problem here. This causes Gimp to be pretty much unusable.

If you save the picture (after step (1)), it works ok. :)
