Bug Description

--- Update: 02/24/09 11:16 ---

Ok. I spent a little time working on this tonight. Every version of firefox (2.0.20,3.0.6,3.1b2) crashes when loading www.vonage.com in the same way.

In exasperation I installed opera. It crashes also. I then went back to firefox and tried disabling javascript (this had no effect). I then disabled "load images automatically".

That worked. This isn't exactly a good solution, but I think it points in the right direction. Any ideas?

------

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 530n with Ubuntu 8.1 installed and fully patched. I'm running 3.0.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1 and have found it crashes a lot. I thought I had reduced it to be a problem with Flash, and so had installed the FlashBlock addon. This solved some problems, but it still crashes.

I've found today it will crash consistently when loading http://www.vonage.com. It loads most of the page, then the browser window closes.

I ran an strace this morning while loading that page. The last lines are

read(3, 0x88247d4, 4096) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)
poll( <unfinished ...>
+++ killed by SIGABRT +++

This is referenced above by

open("/etc/passwd", O_RDONLY|0x80000 /* O_??? */) = 3

Probably half the web sites I use crash in this manner. Any help would be most appreciated.
