Bug Description

Binary package hint: ec2-init

It would be nice to have a tool in ec2-init to know some information about the instance we are running. Information like the following:

- Architecture
- EC2 ID
- Revision of the instance
- etc

Is this description specific enough to be a bug report or should this be moved into a proposal thingy (not sure of the exact Ubuntu process terminology)?

This would better fit in cluod-utils i think.
For the record, information about the image is available in /etc/cloud/build.info .
arch and ec2 id (AMI?) would best be obtained from the metadata service.

affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) → cloud-utils (Ubuntu)
Changed in cloud-utils (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

marking this 'wont fix'
/etc/cloud/build.info has the info on what image this was, but at this point that is of very little use.

Changed in cloud-utils (Ubuntu):
status: New → Won't Fix
