Bug Description

Note: I still have bug 328892 (the initial report). This may be related to that or to bug 332270.

I boot my machine as detailed in bug report 328892. However, while I'm doing it, messages similar to this spew continuously:

udevd[959]: unable to create db file '/dev/.udev/db/\x2fdevices\x2fpci0000:00\x2f0000:00:1f.5\xftarget4:0:0\x2f4:0:0:0\x2fblack\x2fsdc\x2fsdc1': No such file or directory

eventually I drop back into the busybox shell with messages similar to that seen in the second report of bug 328892.

I can boot with 2.6.24, but it takes forever. The first chance I get I drop back to the root shell and kill udevd.

I'm running udev 138-2

OK, I think I got it working. If I boot with the workaround in bug 328892 and the workaround in bug 332270, I can boot a 2.6.28-8 kernel.

I have udev 138-2 installed, so I shouldn't have needed the second workaround. Perhaps the install of udev 138-2 didn't patch my 2.6.28-8 kernel because that wasn't the kernel running at the time. However, something more than that was wrong because I still had the offending 'watch' in my /lib/udev/rules.d on my root file system as well as the initramfs.

Unfortunately I did not save any of the rules files before I modified them with the sed script.
