Bug Description

With the latest updates in dapper f4 my Canon Powershot A520 is detected as Ixus 50. Everything works fine but maybe a little bit confusing.

Don't know if it's the camera package because it just says "Import photos". It's the one that opens when you plug in the camera.

well, In dapper, this occurs, too. But it actually doesn't work.

Nothing happens. It mounts the camera, I click the icon on the desktop and then nothing happens, nomatter what I do..

You have something strange going on with your computer :D A520 mounts???
Mine dapper f4 with latest updates asks if I want to import the
pictures and everything goes smoothly. Mine doesn't mount at all.

My A520 camera is still detected as Ixus 50

Well, it only mounts in KDE, where I have told it to do so, at media://camera

In gnome, it does jst as you said. "import photos" is clicked the window disappears, but nothing happens. No photos are transfered.

I've found the only way to get my photos of it to use GTKam, but I've no idea why the other ways don't work... And yeah, still detected as an IXUS 50

This bug is filed on the "camera" package which doesn't exist since warty. Anyone got an idea where this should go? If it works in other programs but not in gphoto you would easily be led to believe there is a bug in gphoto or at least libgphoto2. Hubert?

Can somebody confirm this bug persists in Edgy?

This is the only bug against the 'camera' package, and it's quite old. Does this package still exist? I can only see that it existed in Warty? We should hide this package if it's gone.

The bug is solved in Intrepid. There is no more confusion as the camera is detected as "Ixus 50 / Powershot A520" and a few other models. Therefore I move this bug to Invalid status.
Thank you all !
