Kopete package is missing .desktop file for meanwhile protocol

Binary package hint: kopete

The kopete package in the Jaunty alpha is missing the following file:

 /usr/share/kde4/services/kopete_meanwhile.desktop

This package is included in the upstream kopete install, but it looks like the deb build is missing the file.

Without this .desktop file, kopete does not provide the meanwhile (Sametime) instant messaging support.

This bug also applies to the KDE 4.2.0 backport for Intrepid, in the kubuntu-experimental PPA.

Thanks for reporting this bug. I haven't installed this package, but I did inspect the source package and found that both the packaging information and the source code did make reference to kopete_meanwhile.desktop.

The embedded Readme does state:
"* Hopefully i have fixed this, but when you try to add accounts and you
donot find meanwhile listed, copy kopete/protocols/meanwhile/kopete_meanwhile.desktop
to $KDE_DIR/share/services (/usr/share/services on fedora).
* If you find the icons for meanwhile missing, overwrite Makefile in
    kopete/protocols/meanwhile/icons with Makefile.siva"

I will confirm later, when I am on a machine running KDE4/Jaunty, unless someone else can confirm before then. Not marking as Confirmed until I or someone else can also reproduce this.

OK, looks like I had the wrong package - this bug is only applicable to the kbuntu-experimental PPA, and not the main Januty repo. Feel free to close.

Also, where is this embedded readme? Those instructions are way out of date (the icons and desktop file are installed during 'make install'), and Sivaram has not been the maintainer of the kopete meanwhile protocol for some time now.

We're working towards a backport of KDE 4.2.2 that ought to address this in intrepid-backports.
