Bug Description

Running Jaunty, 2.6.28-8-generic. I have never had a problem with my sound card until some update a day or two ago. Trying 2.6.28-7 did not work either.

Here is the output of the ALSA script.
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=f2ac7bc6ebbfbbd3fe8c2f0fba3b6f64d072a07c

All playback channels are unmuted in alsamixer. I have tried ALSA, OSS, and ESD, and both speakers and headphones.

Hi Alex,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid. If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 332930

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jeremy,

I am no longer using that Jaunty install, but I think it went away when I went to Karmic. (I've since switched to Arch, and this machine doesn't have a working CD drive, so I can't test Lucid.)

I guess (for me, not the dupes) it's Invalid now.
