real player 11 progress bar disappeared

I've 2 computers running xubuntu 8.04. One of their main task is to play streaming Internet radio, both live and recorded. The problem is that my clients (parents :-) demand seeking capability for recorded streams, and it worked fine with real player in the old xubuntu 6.06.

But now with real player 11 in xubuntu 8.04, when playing such recorded streams the progress bar/seek bar disappears from the player. Even though when I click in the progress bar 'area', the player can still jump to the segment. So it is still possible to seek, but it involves some guess work.

Here is a sample of recorded Internet radio stream that they may listen to:

(The station uses asx and smi files)
The same problem can be reproduced in the two xubuntu 8.04 computers.

(p.s. I've tried mplayer as well, but I cannot make it work in the GUI)
