Bug Description

Hi,

I recently installed a new ATI propietry driver. I think tried to change the screen resoluation ebcause there a black stripe on the left hand side. However, then the screen started scrolling down and I couldn't do anything, so I rebooted. Now whenever I try to start Ubuntu i just get a multi-coloured screen of nothing. It just freezes and fails.

Can I reset Ubuntu to it's defaults somehow without goes in graphically? I'm currently on Windows XP on this machine (using Grub dual booting), so is there anyway way at all?

Thanks
-Den

Hi druderman,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

Get fglrx 8.620 here:
