Yelp cannot open sgt-puzzles help files

Binary package hint: sgt-puzzles

When selecting "Help" or "Contents" from the Help menu in any of the puzzles, Yelp appears and attempts to open /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/index.html and fails with the error message "The file ‘/usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/index.html’ could not be read. This file might be missing, or you might not have permissions to read it." However, the file is there and I do have permission to read it.

I have corrected the description after realizing that I had misdiagnosed the problem as "File missing", when in fact Yelp is failing to read (an existing) file.

When I try and load the help it errors slightly differently:

Cannot Read
Could not load a document for ‘file:///usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en’

Presumably, it should be opening file:///usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/index.html, which does exist.

It was worked in 10.10 and stopped work after upgrade to 11.04

note that help works with Yelp on Debian/sid, package version 9179-1.
(if yelp isn't installed that asks you to set the BROWSER environment variable)

Workaround: enter file:///usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en in your web browser to access the help files directly. You can even enter (for example) file:///usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/mines.html to get at the mines help file (fortunately all the files have intuitive names)

This is still broken on Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1.

I have had slightly different behaviour over the last few Ubuntu releases (currently 15.04)
For me, when Yelp tries to open a sgt-puzzles help file it falls back to opening it in my Google Chrome browser.

My last comment may be largely disregarded... that behaviour is in Yelp, not sgt-puzzles
