Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Ubuntu 9.0.4 Jaunty Jackalope. Problem first appeared this morning (19th Feb 2009 Thursday). I suspect an update I did last night has B0rked gdm - Last update was around 11pm 18th Feb => 21:00 UTC. "Fix" (sic) was to login and startx by hand, but I'm getting repeated attempts of the (original) X server to start. and the desktop has an overlay of green vertical lines suggested the display driver is sort of ill. Sorry I can't be more specific - but I'm sure it's an update that's hosed me...
