Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When connecting to a windows host using krdc, the lower screen edge with taskbar is cut out (see attachment with screenshots).
This happens when I set the Desktop resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768.
If I set the resolution to 1280x1024 the taskbar is seen.
The screen resolution in my system is also 1280x1024.

If I change the window manager from compiz to metacity, everything is displayed correctly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I've upgraded to Jaunty, the bug still there.
Moreover, the taskbar is not seen, if I set the resolution to 1280x1024, as earlier.

I also have this problem in a recently updated Jaunty. Lower edge is cut on all resolutions I have tried so far. I'm running Ubuntu on my LCD-tv so the native resolution is 1360x768.

I am also running Compiz.

Workaround for me is to increase the size of the Windows taskbar. Not a perfect solution but works ok in most cases.

Can confirm this is still a problem with fully patched Ubuntu 9.10 64bit system. Using compiz, NVIDIA driver, dual screens (Twinview not separate X screen).

Workaround is to launch krdc with key --reverse

Well, after one full year and 20 days since this bug report was created, this little bug is still there, at least on KRDC 4.3.2 on Ubuntu 9.1 - Karmic 32bit. For a while I switched to Terminal Server Client (tsclient v0.150) which works great except that does not have the tab functionality from kdrc that is so convenient when you need to connect to multiple servers at the same time. For anybody who only needs to connect to one server at a time I recommend you to try it.

Thanks so much GoodWin for the workaround. Works great and after a while I don't even notice everything is reversed

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

Hey Pedro, I've been using KRDC 4.5.1 for a few months now and the issue seems to be fixed. It seems that the problem only showed once but never repeated, so it might have been just a fluke.

Thanks for following up
