Bug Description

Binary package hint: aspectj

16:36:05 < soren> Can someone explain why Aspectj is in multiverse?
16:49:24 < ~pitti> soren: if it's free software, then just because nobody filed an ubuntu-archive bug to move it to universe, I suppose
16:51:01 < soren> pitti: http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/multiverse/a/aspectj/aspectj_1.5.3-1/aspectj-doc.copyright looks free to me.
16:51:15 < ~pitti> soren: aspectj | 1.5.4-1 | unstable/contrib | source, all
16:51:17 < soren> ...but I'm not a cool archive admin like yourself, so what do I know? :)
16:51:36 < ~pitti> soren: please file a bug about moving it then; thanks for spotting
16:51:37 < soren> contrib means it's free, but depends on non-free stuff?
16:51:41 < ~pitti> yes
16:51:46 < soren> Cool. thanks.
16:51:49 < ~pitti> most likely because of earlier non-free java deps

If we trust http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=480132 AspectJ is apparently using pre-built JARs shipped into its source package to build (a practice, alas, quite common in the java world).

Grze and I will have a deeper look tomorrow to see how/if it can be fixed.

Confirmed that it cannot currently build without using the pre-built binary stuff shipped in the source tarball.
This probably needs to be fixed in the package before it can be promoted to universe.
Marking as invalid for now, feel free to reopen if my universe-appropriateness-analysis is incorrect.
