Bug Description
Package libid3-3.8.3-dev version 3.8.3-7.2 (as packaged in ubuntu 8.10) contains binary /usr/bin/id3tag that I have used to tag mp3 files.
Most of the time the tagging works well, but some times the title tag is cut in the middle:
# title="Send In The Clowns / Looks Like We Made It - (previously unreleased)"
# id3tag --song="$title" /tmp/14079195.mp3
# id3info /tmp/14079195.mp3 |grep TIT2
=== TIT2 (Title/
It is notable, that if I repeat the same tagging again on the same file, then the operation succeeds.
The problem appears only on some of the files, so I have attached one of the problematic files to this bug report.

I've recreated this using libid3-3.8.3-dev version 3.8.3-7.2 on Karmic Koala using the sample file and the instructions you provided. Thanks for providing such a detailed bug report!
