Bug Description
Someone set up a Jabber alert address in one of our clients' NAV installations. Because of bug 330425, no python-xmpp package was installed on this server. This caused AlertEngine to produce multiple traceback error mails per second until someone killed the daemon (so far we've receive in excess of 70,000 emails with the same traceback).
I think I more correct approach to this insanity would be as follows:
If a plugin produces a fatal exception, such as an ImportError, the AlertEngine should send a single traceback error mail. Then it should blacklist the plugin module for the remainder of the process life.
