Bug Description

I encountered a standard-compliant site with PDF file embedded which hangs my Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox - that is, browser is usable, but CPU load is 100% and I'm unable to open another PDF file in Firefox until I close the tab where I opened this site...

I copied the source and deleted as much pure HTML code as I could to make it more clear (it is still standard-compliant and it still doesn't work), here it is:
http://students.mimuw.edu.pl/~mg/launchpad/test.html

I tried a fresh Firefox profile and it still doesn't work; I also tried opening it in Opera -- there were no problems with that.

I downloaded the official Firefox tarball from Mozilla site and copied there the Adobe Reader plugin (nppdf.so) from Medibuntu, the result was the same.

Steps to reproduce:
0) Install Adobe Reader Firefox plugin from Medibuntu, if it's not installed
1) Open Firefox
2) Enter the site http://students.mimuw.edu.pl/~mg/launchpad/test.html
3) Try to open in Firefox another PDF in another tab -- it will not open
4) Close the tab displaying test.html site -- the second tab should now open PDF properly

What should happen:
in point (3) Firefox shouldn't hang, but it should properly open the site with embedded PDF file.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

If you are interested in learning more about software repositories and Ubuntu the following pages should be informative:

1. http://www.ubuntu.com/community/ubuntustory/components - information about Ubuntu repositories
2. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories - information regarding managing repositories

The Medibuntu portion of this bug is unaffected and they should be able to help you.

Hi,

We don't provide acroread in Medibuntu for 32-bits anymore. Please retry with the package from Canonical partner repository, and file a bug report against the acroread package in ubuntu if this issue is still reproducible.
