Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfce4-settings

Using package xfce4-settings (4.5.99.1-0ubuntu1) in xubuntu jaunty 9.04 development version. To reproduce this bug, go to Applications > Settings > Settings Editor.

Select xfce4-settings-manager from the left-hand panel section, and then edit the window width. Click save, then click Revert. The menu item will disappear after you are given a confirmation prompt.

If you open Applications > Settings > Xfce4 Settings Manager, and then go back to the settings editor, the value reappears, but the desired value is that the value should not disappear in the first place.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

I can confirm this as reported in an amd64 Xubuntu installation. There is one additional issue in that for me, the value did not reappear. I am now left with no window width line even after restarting the settings editor.

Thanks for confirming this, Charlie. Try running the Xfce4 Settings Manager
(not the "Settings Editor") - after doing that, the value in the Settings
Editor should reappear the next time you run the Settings Editor (at least
it did for me).

Got it now, I think. I sent the bug upstream to Xfce bugzilla http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4947 .

As stated on the upstream bug report, this is a 'normal' behaviour. 'Revert' will use the system default, and since we don't ship any in xubuntu (because it depends on the screen resolution), the key disappears (but it'll re-appear when you start xfce4-settings again).

Changed in xfce4-settings (Ubuntu):
status: Triaged → Won't Fix
