Bug Description

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

In my sys log upon boot is the message:

pulseaudio[4627]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_update() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 13835058055282163424 bytes (418293516409 ms) Most likely this is an ALSA driver bug. Please report this issue to the PulseAudio developers.

Other info: the sound does stutter with some applications on this machine, and it 'crackles' when it starts playing audio effects for button presses.

Version info:

ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-7-generic
pulseaudio 0.9.14-0ubuntu6
alsa-base 1.0.18.dfsg-1ubuntu3
libasound2 1.0.18-1ubuntu6

lspci is attached.
