Bug Description
I'm really not sure which component is to blame here, but I find it rather strange that I'm getting performance issues of this sort with my system. My computer has a Core 2 Quad processors and 8GB of DDR2 ram. It's by no means taxed, yet if I have an mp3 playing (using Rythmbox, though I've also noticed it in VLC), and I'm scrolling on a heavy web page (specifically http://
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64.

It may be your video driver. Are you using the closed Nvidia xorg drivers?
