Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

I use Thunderbird, have already two Email Providers (T-online.de and Web.de). Thunderbird does not accept a third provider.

The path /home/ludger/.mozilla-thunderbird/1p7kxcay.default/Mail/pop.t-online.de in about: config mail.server.server1.directory does not exist,

it should be

 /home/ludger/.mozilla-thunderbird/1p7kxcay.default/5it0chv1.default/Mail/pop.t-online.de.

It is the same for Web.de

First of all, thank you very much for reporting this problem. Please add a more detailed description of the problem. At which point wents adding another "provider" wrong? Have you already tried to use a new profile?

I dont Know the exact word in in English, because I use the german version.

So I use the German expression.

When I click on Konto hinzufügen, then starts the so called Konten-Assistent.

Neues Konto einrichten: E-Mail Konto
Ihr Name
E-Mail-Adresse
Pop
Globaler Posteingang deactivatet
Posteingang-Server Benutzername
Konten-Bezeichnung
Fertig stellen

When I then look under Konto Googlemail, I find no subdirectories like Posteingang, Entwürfe, Vorlagen, Gesendet, Papierkorb.

Under Server-Einstellungen I cannot find a path like /home/ludger/.mozilla-thunderbird/5it0chv1.default/Mail/pop.googlemail

I am also not able to change local directory afterwards

Was this helpful

Ok, thank you for the information! It's ok, since I'm german, too. However, please tell me:

* Are you using pop3 or imap to connect?
* Which version of the package do you have installed (aptitude show mozilla-thunderbird)

Have you tried to download mails after adding the new 'Mailbox'? Thanks in advance!

Under Help I find:

I have tried to download mails after adding the new Mailbox.

There ist no Reaction, no error, no download.

The other Mailboxes work without problems, I can receive and send Emails.

Of course, sorry that I dont have done this already. What he describes in german, are entries in the menu and the dialogs shown while adding a new account . Here is a row based translation:

> When I click on "Konto hinzufügen", then starts the so called Konten-Assistent.
When I click on 'Tools->Account settings->Add account', the 'new account setup' dialog starts.

Add account: EMail account

Use global Inbox (store mail in Local Folders) is not checked.

When I then look under the newly created account (Googlemail), I find no subdirectories like 'Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash' etc.

Ok, thanks once again for your feedback. I will try to reproduce it tonight, havn't had a chance to do this earlier. Two ideas:

- What happens if you say you select "Use global Inbox"? Does that work?
- Does adding another IMAP account work?

Thank you very much.

This sounds like a profile problem can you please rename
/.mozilla-thunderbird to /.mozilla-thunderbird.old and restart
thunderbird than set up the account that is messed up than restart
thunderbird and see if it works.
Why are we marked confirmed?
Were you able to reproduce it?

No, there is no change at all.

Does adding another IMAP account work?

Yes, this works. I now have installed my Googlemail account as IMAP and not as POP.

Now Thunderbird works as it should be, I find subdirectories like 'Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash' etc also under Googlemail.

Now looking under Server-Settings, I find a path like /home/ludger/.mozilla-thunderbird/5it0chv1.default/ImapMail/imap.googlemail.com.

Thank You

Couldn't reprodruce it. However, there were enough information to debug this one and I didn't had an idea what to try next. I'll be a little bit more cautious with marking reports as confirmed.

Thanks you for the update. Marked fix released since it is no longer reproducable and is most likely caused by a profile problem
