Yeah, the gstreamer phonon backend generally sucks. You should install phonon-backend-xine (default in a kubuntu installation) and set the Phonon backend to Xine in KDE's sound configuration module in System Settings.

So amarok needs package phonon-backend-xine in dependencies?
