Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

Package: kdebase-workspace-bin 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu4

Using the 'Battery Monitor' plasma applet (installed by default in Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4) to change Power Profiles by selecting one from the drop-down list. Frequently plasma freezes solid for several seconds. Sometimes all of plasma disappears and I am left looking the the default grey background.

Removing the AC adapter from the laptop, which will cause the Power Profile to change automatically, can also make the desktop freeze in the same way, even though the applet changes to show 'On AC' or 'On Battery' immediately.

To reproduce, you just need to switch between 'Performance' and 'Powersave' profiles a few times and it will happen.

Running on a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ31M (Core 2 Duo) and a Sony VAIO GR-315MP (PIII)

I'm not sure how to debug this - which log files can I look at?
