Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Sometimes while playing, Amarok skips songs in the playlist. It often starts them for about a second and then goes on to the next song.

This is very often happening if the system is under heavy load (for example copying some GB of files in background) or if you reload about 100GB of MP3s with Amarok.

It almost never happens if the system does nothing in the background.

(That is under Ubuntu 8.10.)

Same here with jauty. When having the whole collection on random it would skip 1-2 songs (the pop-up would still show them) between playing songs. Very annoying when it skips good songs.

Same for me, also with Jaunty. This has never happened before the upgrade to Jaunty, and even now it mostly occurrs when I queue songs. Btw: I am using the old Amarok 1.4.

In some forums on the internet I found the hint that this bug occurrs when the system is under heavy (I/O) load, and although I cannot confirm this a 100%, I also think that there is a correlation

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!

Yeah, that is why we changed the bug report policy that such stuff should go directly to upstream and not launchpad. Too many bugs like this rot here while upstream could actually do something about them. :)
