Doesn't seem to happen, when I double-click a compressed file but happens when opening it via "gnome-open file" or "file-roller file".

Sorry for the missing info:

file-roller:
  Installed: 2.25.90-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.25.90-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.25.90-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I think you meant file-roller and not gedit?

A. Opening a compressed file via terminal: file-roller /url/to/compressed/file => warning in ~/.xsession-errors
B. Opening a compressed file via gnome-open (terminal or started via a web browser): gnome-open /url/to/compressed/file => warning in ~/.xsession-errors
C. Double-Click on a compressed file => no warning in ~/.xsession-errors
