Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Hardware & Software Specs:
Kubuntu 9.04 (updated as of 2009.02.12)
Lenovo S400 laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, ICH9 family chipset
Intel 4-series mobile graphics chipset (rev. 07)
   160GB Mobile HDD

Graphics Drivers: Using Kubuntu supplied Intel graphics 2.6.1 series, UXA acceleration enabled

3D compositing enabled under KDE with direct rendering & VSync turned on. Texture from pixmap and "Nearest"
texture quality in use. Functionality checks disabled.

Description:
Using Intel's UXA acceleration setup, after resuming from suspend to ram, some (but not all) kwin desktop effects
will begin to cause failures and kwin must be restarted to correct the problem.
Desktop effects that use the "full screen" like the "Desktop Grid" or "Present Windows" effects will fail to start, but then after several seconds will immediately start running continuously (as if the user was constantly turning the effect on and off at very high speed). The only solution is to kill kwin and let kwin restart. Other desktop effects like having a transparent window do not seem to fail in the same way however.

Same problem. After returning from sleep desktop effects are gone.
I have Acer Aspire 5315 with Intel GM965/GL960

I'm using Up-to-date 9.04 distro.
Package: kde-window-manager 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2
uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 8 04:38:53 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

I tried to hibernate but I were low on swap, and I was thrown back to my kde session. I've noticed the notification saying "Compositing performance was too slow and has been suspended. You can resume using Alt+Shift+F12 shortcut". I think I don't see this after suspend/resume because notification is shown while my screen is locked.
The problem is now that the shortcut doesn't work.
As a workaround you can disable functionality checks in "System Settings - Desktop - Desktop Effects - Advanced". But as another issue: it's weird that it checks compositing performance just after resume while computer is busy on waking itself up.

I have the same problem as Alexander Saltykov has. Since low on Swap I get back to the desktop and get the message. No problems like that when resuming from Suspend to Ram though.

Fixed in KDE 4.3.2. (Or if not, it missed the cutoff by less than a day and will be part of KDE 4.3.3.)

Er, fixed 4.3.1 or if not, in 4.3.2.

Could this fix perhaps be backported into kubuntu's 4.3.1? (Unless 4.3.2 is in the pipeline already...)
