I have the same problem. I can't launch any terminal in gnome but if I go to "Ctrl+Alt+F1" this terminal runs correctly. (Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit alpha-5)

Same here (Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit). Terminal launched with the same error and then stays empty. Terminal runs ok otherwise.

This error is because the default settings are bad (it's trying to open mutt). See bug #221362. To make it work, change ~/.gtimelog/gtimelogrc, setting "mailer" to something you have (e.g. "mailer = gedit %s").

I am also seeing this error (Ubuntu 10.4). In particular, I see this message when I try to open R Commander (an econometrics software)

there is a work around to fix this bug:

# sudo chmod a+x /usr/lib/R/site-library/Rcmdr/etc/linux/Rcmdr.sh
