Bug Description

Binary package hint: x11-xserver-utils

After I reopen the lid on my laptop or press a key after running "xset dpms force off", the screen backlight is at minimum brightness (20%, according to /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD0/brightness). If I press the Fn+PgUp key to increase brightness, it immediately proceeds to ProperBrightness+1.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T500, running up-to-date Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10. I do not recall this problem occurring when I first installed Ubuntu on this computer in mid-January.
