This problem occurs daily after a couple of hours. It only happens when the computer has been idle for a while, so I can't really say what's going on at the moment it crashes. I'm connected to 2 IMAP servers.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add the log file '~/.xsession-errors' after Thunderbird crashed in your current X session(or the output on the console if it was started there) to this bug report as a separate attachments? The backtrace was generated by calling "thunderbird -g 2>&1 | tee gdb-thunderbird.txt" from the terminal so it should already include anything printed to stdout or stderr, right?

Seems that there is nothing other than the backtrace reported, so you might take a look at Thunderbird's error console while it is running maybe there is a warning that could indicate why it crashes later on.
