Can you please try to 'apt-get update' and install it again. I just tried to install flashplugin-nonfree and did not encounter any problems.

I purged the package and successfully installed it late last night.

It wasn't an intermittent issue: i had been experiencing it for a few days prior to opening the ticket.

Oh well, whatever happened, its fixed now.
