I agree, I would like to see this synced. I know it builds fine because I keep a PPA for Wordpress for Hardy-Jaunty. You are free to use these packages in the meantime:https://launchpad.net/~wordpress/+archive/ppa

Sorry for hijacking this. I would like to get this in before FF and i worked on the previous merge.
Using Pedro's updated patch, slightly cleaned up diff (I think we want to keep debians root.www-data and permissions and not use www-data.www-data)
