Cannot upgrade Ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 using Synaptic

Bug Description

I cannot upgrade Ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 using Synaptic update manager package. Synaptic stops the download package process warning that cannot found specific packages. My network connection is Ok and I've tryed to repeat the process several times, but without success.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please try to update with a different mirror and if this fails again, could you please add the log files from '/var/log/dist-upgrade/' to this bug report as separate attachments? Thanks in advance.
