Addendum: to others seeking to fix this error, the current package won't work. I tried simply extracting the module out of the deb file and installing it manually, but this fails. This version is compiled against a different server version so you get this:
[ 0.166192] (II) LoadModule: "fpit"
[ 0.166288] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//fpit_drv.so
[ 0.166368] (II) Module fpit: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
 compiled for 1.4.99.905, module version = 1.2.0
 Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 2.1
[ 0.166398] (EE) module ABI major version (2) doesn't match the server's version (4)
[ 0.166413] (II) UnloadModule: "fpit"
[ 0.166421] (II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//fpit_drv.so
[ 0.166431] (EE) Failed to load module "fpit" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

Hi robert1968,

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Don't know how relevant these are since I really think this bug is a problem with compiling the package, but here's the requested stuff, Bryce.

This patch should fix the build. It takes changes from the xorg git.
