Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I installed ubuntu 8.10 with ubuntu-8.10-alternate-i386.iso in Dos, and my Xorg.conf is empty...

I tried dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg but nothing happend.

I tried Xorg -config and copy the Xorg.conf.new to Xorg.conf , nothing happend.

And i can only run my computer in 1024X769 resolution 60Hz, It's the only choice. So i suspect that my video driver is not works well.

I also changed the SubSection in Xorg.conf . I add ' Modes "1024X768" "800X600" ' , and nothing happend too.

The Xorg.0.log is always the same.

I also tried the 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10 instead of 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10.3 , nothing happend....

So i think it might be a bug, I can't use 3D desktop too.

What resolution(s) were you expecting to see?

Please provide the output of 'xrandr --auto' and 'sudo get-edid|parse-edid'.

Possibly this is just an instance of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17215, which I think has been fixed better in Jaunty. Can you please see if you can reproduce the issue on Jaunty Alpha-4 or newer?
