Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
Ubuntu 8.10
kernel: 2.6.27-9.19
network-manager: 0.7
In Intrepid Ibex, I cannot connect to a wpa-psk network with hidden ssid, using the following method:
1. Select menu option "Connect to a hidden network"
2. Specify the Network name (ssid)
3. Select "WPA2 Personal" (there is no "WPA Personal" in the list)
4. Specify password
5. Connect
The Network manager tries to connect but fails, and asks for a password, again and again.
I found the same problem in Ubuntu Answers: https:/
and a workaround at http://
I guess, there are 2 problems:
1. If I check the option "show password", my password is substituted by a hex string
2. the connect settings are modifed. I can watch the settings in the gconf-editor (System/
NM-Manager writes
group [wep40,
key-mgmt wpa-psk
name 802-11-
pairwise [tkip,ccmp]
proto [wpa,rsn]
If I change the settings to:
group [tkip]
key-mgmt wpa-psk
name 802-11-
pairwise [tkip]
proto [wpa]
and reboot the system, then it is possible to connect to this hidden network.
for intrepid, can you please test the packages available in ~network-manager team PPA? (http:// launchpad. net/~network- manager/ +archive)?
