Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When I select the "Shut down..." menu item, the dialog showing the options to power off, suspend, etc doesn't
become the topmost window, but must be fished out using alt-tab or the window picker. This only happens
when visual effects are enabled (in preferences -> appearence), so I'm taking a guess it's a compiz bug.

This is in current Jaunty alpha.

Confirming this happens for me too in Jaunty (and from memory, in Intrepid, too). The window is always hidden, but quite frequently it is, so it's easy enough to reproduce.

Importantly, it must be compiz because the window _is_ actually on top. compiz simply doesn't draw it there. I just demonstrated this by inadvertantly rebooting my computer:

1. This bug was open in firefox (full screen mode).
2. I selected System / Shutdown and the shutdown window was drawn behind firefox.
3. I clicked on firefox to continue writing about the bug.
4. The click on firefox actually selected the 'shutdown my computer' or 'restart' button and my computer shut down.

Changed in compiz:
status: New → Confirmed

The shut down menu option has recently been replaced by the power-button logo thingy in the right corner of the top panel, so this no longer happens for me in Jaunty. I'm changing the bug status to "invalid" as it longer applies, is this correct?
