Kernel Panic when attempting to install Dapper Flight 4

Bug Description

Kernel Panic at first stage of Dapper Flight 4 installation: choosing option 1 "Install to the hard disk", validating, panic 2 seconds later:

VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(8,1)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncinc: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)

ISO MD5 checked, CD succesfully tested on other platform
Ubuntu Breezy successfully installed on problematic platform, without any error

This may be a SATA driver issue, according to this post on Ubuntu forums:

Intel Pentium IV 3Ghz (HT)
1Go RAM
HD Maxtor 6Y 120Mo (S-ATA master)

DVD-RW PIONEER DVR108 (P-ATA primary slave)
Sapphire Radeon X800XL

I hava the same problem and I'm using an Arima M623-DCX notebook. No SATA HD

HW details:
Intel Sonoma 2.0
1GB RAM
HD WD 80 GB, 5400RPM
ATI X700 128MB
