Bug Description
Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4
After updates today (15:00 GMT 6 Feb 2009) I can no longer log in.
I get the KDE splash screen, the splash screen goes away and then all I get is the background image and nothing else.
This is a clean install I did yesterday (!) all I've done is enable the NVIDIA driver version 180 via 'Hardware Drivers' and reboot. It was working at this point. Then I did the updates and rebooted again and I see the problem. X Server is running, NVIDIA driver is definitely running (I can tell because my screen image gets displaced if it isn't).
System is AMD Athlon, NVIDIA AGP graphics card.

To update, this is definitely an issue with the NVIDIA driver or its interaction with the x server that was a part of these updates.
Logged in to terminal, did
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
chose defaults to all options. Am now able to start kde, and it's using the nv driver.
Reinstall the nvidia driver, problem recurrs.
