Bug Description

During my upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy (with all current updates) I lost output from the DVI on my Nvidia Geforce 6600. As soon as X starts, the screen goes black. The system continues to boot normally. My VGA output works normally. I am running the Nvidia accelerated driver. If I disable the the accelerated driver I do get DVI output but an unacceptable resolution that I can't seem to modify in any way. Attached is my xorg.conf and xorg.0.log

This is now Solved for me by upgrade to 8.10

Here is my xorg.conf. I add the line Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP" to the Screen section in an effort to force DVI output. Nvidia-settings is using auto-config and only shows CRT-0, no DVI. If I attempt to detect displays in nvidia-settings, it finds my TV-0 (s-video) but not the DVI.

I am not using Nvidia 173, rather 169. I am considering 173.14.12 to see if it fixes the issue.

I did try the Nvidia 173 driver but it made no difference. I finally decided to upgrade to 8.10 and that installed the 177 driver. This finally solved my problem. Here is my new xorg.conf;

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.
