Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunderbird
select a news post. Use article/create filter from article. Define filter. In not one single place is there any option to actually run the filter: both in the menu and in the filters list, all options to run the filters are disabled.
Net result: those 900 posts from the bonehead you want to ignore cannot be nuked, which IMO is more or less the whole point of filters.

Hello Bitrot.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with filtering new items in Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2009 regarding Thunderbird and there have been several versions of Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad and make a comment to that effect?
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
