Bug Description

My dist. is jaunty, i.e. alpha version of Ubuntu 9.10. My locale is zh_TW.UTF-8, and desktop is gnome. When I use mc in gnome-terminal, it would corrupt the mc display when I move scrollbar down, as shown in the attached pic.

This bug is similar to #173322 & #66272, but the previous two issues are all closed, so I create a new one for jaunty.

Probably related to Bug #31501 as well?

The corruption is similar to Bug #31501, but I observe this both in mc and apititude.

I found mc display corruption only occurs in gnome-terminal & other libvte related terminal programs. If I change to konsole and run mc or aptitude, the corruption disappeared.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Could test the current Ubuntu development version? It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 324728
